Cooperative Match Program

Land O'Lakes Foundation Member Co-op Match Program matches dollar-for-dollar the cash donation of member cooperatives, thus doubling the funds available for hometown projects. By matching funds for projects selected and funded by member cooperatives, Land O'Lakes Foundation leverages local funding efforts and ensures community support for programs.

Member Co-op Match Program funds are awarded to a wide variety of eligible local projects undertaken by non-profit organizations. Examples of successful projects supported by member cooperatives include:

  • Emergency equipment for volunteer fire departments
  • An expanded community center for senior citizens
  • A park pavilion for the community
  • 4-H or FFA programs

Matching funds will generally not be awarded for the following purposes:

  • Fund-raisers for individuals
  • Scholarships
  • Individuals
  • Internships
  • Programs or projects that do not demonstrate a broad application of the principles set forth in the Land O'Lakes Foundation Mission.

It’s easy to locate cooperatives in the community your organization serves. Check the phone book for listings under feed, seed or agricultural products. Cooperatives usually have names such as Farmers Cooperative Company or (Town) Cooperative. Generally, donation requests are handled by the cooperative’s general manager.

Should your organization receive a donation from a Land O’Lakes member cooperative, it is still up to the cooperative to request a matching donation from Land O’Lakes Foundation. As Main Street businesses, member cooperatives receive many requests for donations to their communities. Only member cooperatives of Land O’Lakes may request matching funds, using the application form in their possession.
